The EUSR National Water Hygiene (blue card) training is a requirement for all individuals entering clean water sites or working on the clean water network, known as ‘Restricted Operations’. An online trainer-led course, delivered via Teams. Courses must be attended using a laptop, not a mobile phone. One Person bookings available. Discounts for multiple person bookings. Costs shown on the website include the EUSR registration and virtual card(s). From April 1st 2024, the cost of EUSR registration fees and cards will be increasing (this will be reflected in our costs of courses/EUSR cards).
Candidates receive virtual cards (accessible on mobile phone) instead of physical plastic cards. If plastic cards are still required as an addition, these can be added to your order at checkout. Please note, a plastic card cannot be ordered in replacement of a virtual card.

Course Overview: The EUSR National Water Hygiene (blue card) training is a requirement for all individuals entering clean water sites or working on the clean water network, known as ‘Restricted Operations’.
Duration: Approx. 3 hours
Registration: Certification is valid for 3 years and registration is renewed on completion of this course.
The National Water Hygiene (blue card) scheme ensures the protection of public health and promotes good water hygiene practices. The scheme was developed in collaboration with all UK water companies and is a requirement for access onto clean water sites or ‘Restricted Operations’. Sites include work on service reservoirs, water pumping stations, water treatment works, wells, springs, boreholes and work on the network of water mains and service pipes.
On completion of the National Water Hygiene training and assessment, candidates will understand the importance in playing a part in maintaining clean and safe drinking water and protecting public health.
What’s covered?
All required knowledge and awareness of good water hygiene practices are covered. The course comprises of the following modules:
Module 1: The importance of water
Module 2: Water as a carrier of disease
Module 3: Potential contamination and its consequences
Module 4: Preventing contamination
Course Duration and Registration
The course duration is normally around half a day (approx. 3 hours). The course is an interactive trainer-led delivery and candidates are invited to share and discuss experiences with the group.
EUSR registration for the National Water Hygiene programme is for three years from the date of assessment.
